Skidding Logs for Sawmill Log Bunks | How to Hook Up Logs to a Tractor

Today I'm skidding logs for sawmill log bunks and I'll be showing you how to hook up logs to a tractor. I've done all kinds of rigging to tow logs with my tractor but this method is surely the easiest (and safest). With a simple 3 point hitch implement and some grab hooks, I quickly wrangle-up two long logs with my slip hook chain setup. If you are often skidding trees like I am, check out the extra angle iron I added to the top of my 3 point hitch setup to hold chain securely in place when not in use. Little touches like this sure make my life a lot easier and prevents the chain from sliding off and getting tangle in my tractor. While I'm talking about 3 point hitches, I can't help but feel thankful for the rear control level for my 3 point hitch on my 2012 Kioti DK40se HST. Without this rear remote level, I'd be going back and forth several times between the cab and the back of the tractor. Do yourself a favour, If you're getting a cab tractor, get one with a control lever at the rear of the tractor for your 3 point hitch. After successfully dragging my logs across some rough and wet terrain, I make it out to the sawmill where the sun is quickly setting. With the help of my stock headlights and worklights, I finish off a few grading details where I"ll be putting the log bunks.
