Why I Need Tire Chains | Compact Tractor Skidding Trees in the Winter

Today we get underway with my compact tractor skidding trees in the winter! You'll begin to understand why I need tire chains on today's episode as I tackle some uphill and downhill terrain in relatively mild winter conditions that would normally cause unchained tires to slip and slide everywhere. With a solid load of logs chained up to my favourite three point hitch attachment, I'm gearing up and skidding trees from deep in the woods out to my sawmill for lumber making. Without my Trygg light tractor tire chains I"d be going nowhere fast that's for sure. Check out how the welded steel studs on my Trygg tire chains make all the different as they grab onto the frozen ground and propel me forward even in 2wd. If you've ever tried to drive around with industrial tires on your tractor in snow, you know that they are next to useless without something like tire chains. Add into the mix some side hill, uphill and downhill slopes and you've got recipe for disaster. Thankfully my mind is put at ease with the tire chains grabbing firmly and holding on as I make several trips back and fourth between the bush and the sawmill. In this episode you'll also see my HLA Root Rake with grapple grabbing hold and lifting my logs onto my sawmill platform. That grapple which is hooked up with long hydraulic lines to my rear remotes on my tractor sure is a versatile tool and one that I use almost as much as my loader bucket itself.
