30 Min Beginner Relaxing Yoga For Stress Relief (Melt Away Anxiety)

If you’ve been feeling stressed, sad or anxious during self-isolation and quarantine then this yoga for stress and anxiety will help you unwind and relax. Listen to the chilled out yoga music in this calming yoga sequence just before bed and you will drift off straight to sleep.
This 30 minute beginner stress relieving yoga sequence is perfect for any level and is completely floor based, meaning; you only need a mat and some things to help you get comfortable like a bolster or rolled up towels/throws as well as, a cushion or pillow. If you have a yoga block or small foam roller that’s great, but not essential.
To make the most of this relaxing yoga sequence make sure you can do this during a quiet and uninterrupted time. Stretching is also great for relaxing but the difference with (hatha or yin) yoga is that you connect your breath to the movement. This is how you will get the calming benefits of mindfulness and mediation to truly restore your nervous system and lower your stress levels, both in your body and mind. So be mindful of your breathing and focus on deeply inhaling and exhaling during each pose.
Holding each stress-relieving yoga pose for at least 1-2 minutes gives your muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia time to fully let go and release pent up tension. But remember, never to stretch into pain - you may feel very tight in certain poses, but if any of the relaxing yoga poses feel too much for you, please go easy on yourself and just spend a little extra time in child’s pose.
If you’ve never tried breathing techniques, then this chill yoga flow also incorporates ‘nodi shodhana’ or alternate nostril breathing technique to help centre and ground you as well as balance both hemispheres of the brain (or your yin and yang energy). Whenever you feel stressed or anxious, you can take a few minutes to practice this ‘pranayama’ or breathing technique for instant relief - it really is very effective!
