Duct tape 1994 Toyota car trim update 8 months

The trim on my 1994 Toyota Corolla is in poor shape on the passenger side. I was going to paint it but decided to experiment with some cheap duct tape. I did a video of adding cheap duct tape to my car trim back in March and said I would do an update in 6 months. It has been 8 months.
The tape was very easy to add, it only took a few minutes; however, it wrinkled within days of being added to the car. I have been surprised though at how well it stayed attached. Since adding the tape I found out the 3M makes a tape just for car trim but it is expensive. I am going to remove the current tape and add some Gorilla tape and see how well that works.
The rest of the car is holding up well with the cheap enamel paint job I added back in 2018.
