APS TV Episode 4: The Bigger Picture: Our Impact & Inclusive Community
The American Physical Society's 2023 March Meeting brings together scientists and students from around the globe to connect and collaborate across academia, industry, and major labs. Whether you’re in-person or joining us virtually, the APS March Meeting is well underway! Physics from all over the world are gathering for their opportunity to share their research, network with their peers, and learn about current issues relevant to the physics community. Welcome back to the fourth and final day of APS TV, I'm your host Stephen Horn. The meeting may be slowing down but our content surely isn't!! Today we shift our focus to the impact of APS on its inclusive community. Despite decades of efforts to increase the representation of women and other marginalized groups in physics, much work remains. Prineha Narang, Maria Goeppert Mayer Award Winner, shares her experience in physics and reflects on what needs to be done to make the field more welcoming and inclusive. The bright future early careerists can create for science. We will also sit with the Network Scientist, Albert Laszlo Barabasi, a physicist who wants to connect the physics industry to wider audiences. For our fourth and final day here at APS we will be taking a visit to universities across the globe to find out how they are using physics to move humanity forward.
