Air Liquide
Pushing back the frontiers for a sustainable future on Earth and in Space with Air Liquide.
Air Liquide has been involved in space adventures for more than 50 years. Thanks to its unique expertise in space cryogenics and gas engineering, the Group has contributed to some of the biggest international projects: the Ariane program, the Planck and Herschel observation satellites, Melfi on the International Space Station, Curiosity, the third-generation MeteoSat (and many more), and still contribute alongside its customers, partners and the Space stakeholders.
From the design and production of tanks and cryogenic equipment; to the management, production, and transportation of gases used as rocket propellant; to operational support and services provided to the launch pad... We are involved at every major stage in the launcher’s life.
Air Liquide’s solutions are key to the operation of terrestrial observation satellites and astrophysics missions alike. We develop and supply cutting-edge technologies with unrivalled precision, which allow the mechanical and thermal stability of onboard instruments like “pulse tube” cryocoolers.
By pushing back the frontiers of technologies since the beginning of its space activity, Air Liquide has always made its contribution to the space industry’s challenges.
Air Liquide places sustainable development and its contribution to progress through technological innovation at the heart of its strategy. With its expertise, Air Liquide aims to contribute to Sustainable Space Exploration by adapting terrestrial technologies developed for the energy transition to meet the future needs of the cis-lunar economy first and beyond after: e.g. gas purification, electrolysis, liquefaction, high-performance cryogenic storage, gas filling stations, fuel cells, etc.
Space has always driven progress, helping us imagine and develop future technologies that have terrestrial applications. Therefore, we are and will continue to push back the frontiers of technologies for a sustainable future on Earth and in Space.
