How Much Weight Should I Lift At My Age? (Tips For Older Men!)

I Answer The Most Common Question In Fitness... https://www.liveanabolic.com

Guys..today I answer the most common question in fitness that I have been getting for years. It is always, Mark..how much weight should I lift? It can be a hard question to answer, but I am going to give you a few different answers on how you can figure it out because there is no perfect answer. I am going to give you tips on how you can answer that question for yourself because we are all at different fitness levels and have different amounts of strength. Let’s get started with tips on how to answer the most common question in fitness of how much weight should you lift.

The first tip is to determine how many sets and reps you are going to be doing. Determining the number of reps will help you determine how much weight you should lift. You don’t need to lift really heavy to build muscle, and when you are at the gym you need to leave your ego at the door. For example, you get a workout program that has you do 10 reps of bicep curls. Well you go and grab heavy dumbbells to show off, but your form is absolutely terrible in the exercise. You swing your body and your arms to get the weight up, but you are not getting great results. You are barely involving your biceps when you have bad form and lift heavy weight. When lifting heavier than you should, you put yourself at risk of hurting yourself. When you get to the 10th rep, you should be fatigued by the time you get to your last rep. If you are in the middle of a set and you realize it is too easy, slow the reps to have more time under tension.

The second tip to answer the most common question in fitness is, you don’t push yourself hard enough. You want there to be a little bit of pain from the lactic acid buildup because that means you are doing a good job on focusing on the specific muscles that you are working. It doesn’t matter what kind of equipment you are using in your exercises, if you aren’t putting effort into your exercises, you are not going to get good results. It is okay to add more resistance or weight after you do one set of an exercise, just don’t continue to lift the lighter weight when you know you can add more resistance.

I encourage you to keep a notebook or a journal, even use the notes on your phone, and keep track of the weight or resistance you can do for each exercise. That will help you to know how heavy to lift for each exercise/workout, as well as, track your results and progress on your fitness journey.
