7 Things To Know Before Buying A Tesla (From An Actual Tesla Owner)
Model Y Checklist - https://tinyurl.com/y4pd55h3
In this video, I go over 7 things you should know if you are considering buying a Telsa or if you already own a tesla. Enjoy!
If you are buying one please use my referral code for 1000 free supercharger miles. tesla.com/referral/jack92588
1) If you are going on a long road trip it may not be an efficient route and there may not be a lot of supercharger stations along the way.
While Tesla says you can travel coast to coast that’s true, but you can’t take just any road there. You will have to take a planned route by Tesla. So say you want to stop off in a small city on your coast to coast road trip and see grandma, there is a good chance you will not be able too.
And it doesn’t just apply to long road trips. Where I live in North Carolina, hundreds of thousands of people visit the coast each year. However, out of the 322 miles of shoreline and 25 beaches, you can only visit 2 due to the limited number of superchargers.
Before you go on a road trip I suggest you plan it out and make sure you can get there and it doesn’t take you on a crazy route.
You can do that on Tesla's website. https://www.tesla.com/trips
2) You will not always have max range.
Even though it may say online that you will get X mileage. That is never the case. I have never gotten the maximum range for my Model Y.
3) Service can be bad and communications are bad.
So after you buy a tesla, all is quiet. What do I mean? So when you are waiting for your car to arrive you hear nothing from Tesla. And you don’t know when the car will arrive. Some people have gotten their car in a week, others have been waiting for months or close to a year. So you are spending around 50,000 dollars and you hear nothing….doesn't sound luxurious to me.
Let's talk service, Teslas are extremely complicated vehicles. And when simple things happen they can be a headache to fix.
4) Use a referral code.
Referral codes can not hurt. The only way to get free supercharging is to use a referral code/link when buying the car. When you do that you will get 1000 free miles of supercharging. That can take you from San Francisco to Denver, Houston To Phoneix, or Jacksonville to Chicago.
5) The quality is not good at all
J.D. Power released its annual quality study and its terrible news for Tesla, which ranked dead last among the 32 automotive brands it measured.
The Initial Quality Study, now in its 34th year, measures vehicle quality for the first 90 days of ownership and found that Teslas suffered 250 problems per 100 vehicles reported by buyers
So if you are looking for a car that has great quality, this is not for you.
6) Full Self Driving is not ready yet.
A lot of times when people hear Tesla Full self-driving they think the car can drive itself from place to place, however that is not the case yet.
While it does have amazing features that few cars can compete with such as Auto Lane Change, Autopark, and Navigate on Autopilot. Just know that some not production-ready and in beta.
7) It will be the best car you own.
Everything has its fault and Tesla is no exception, however, if you can look past the negatives there are a ton of positives for owning a Tesla.
