SEAL trapped in full SOCCER NET

Watch the intense rescue by OCN of an adult male seal who was barely able to move because he was caught in a massive 40sqm soccer net in Namibia, filmed with a GoPro.

While on patrol for seals in distress, Namib_Naude and Antoine from Ocean Conservation Namibia (OCN) spotted a big heap of net wrapped around a presumably deceased seal. Luckily the animal moved, and Naude and Antoine quickly fetched their seal rescue net and caught this female seal. They had to cut through over 100 strands of white nylon line for 15 minutes with their Leatherman tool. Luckily the seal was not physically injured and we watched her surf in the waves as soon as she was freed from her 25kg death trap.

We do not know where this soccer net originated. The closest towns are Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, somebody must have carelessly discarded this net in the ocean. Actions like this have let to climate change and animal cruelty all over the world. Please be mindful.
