3 Baby Seals Rescued from Plastic
Activists Naude Dreyer and Antoine Amory from Ocean Conservation Namibia (OCN) spend another morning at Pelican Point, Namibia, to patrol the beaches for injured and entangled Cape Fur Seals.
They found six seals this morning that needed their intervention to be freed from different kinds of plastic pollution. Three of those entangled Baby Seals were part of the same group and Naude and Antoine managed to catch them within a few minutes of each other.
One of the seals had a very deep cut. We have no seal rehab facilities in Namibia, we have to rely on the salt water to disinfect the wound. We often see previously entangled seals again after they have healed up, we are positive that this one will also make a full recovery.
Today was a very exciting day. We have been donated a new GoPro 8 camera to document the situation at Pelican Point, the quality of our video is much better than usual.
