Three Seals Rescued from Entanglement

A gill net and two different kinds of rope were responsible for today's seal entanglements.
Ocean rubbish and plastic remains a massive problem for Namibia's Cape Fur Seal population. Most seals get entangled under water, while they a hunting for fish. They are notoriously playful and play with anything they can find - including fishing nets, fishing line, empty buckets, fabric, pieces of rope and garments.
Ocean Conservation Namibia (www.ocnamibia.org) has made it their mission to catch and disentangle as many seals as possible to spare them from a life of injury, pain, infection, and eventually death. As of 22 July, Antoine, Naude and Denzil have freed 329 seals in 2020 alone
