Big Trestle and Canyon Part Three - Upper Canyon Logging Railroad

In this video, we're following up on our large-scale Big Trestle and Canyon area of the model railroad at Garagemahal. In this part, we're building the Upper Canyon and Logging Railroad.

The logging railroad was built last year, but we were unable to finish the final four feet, (1.5 meters) as it's part of the Big Canyon area. With the lower part of the canyon built AND the huge mirror in place, we can now move on with building the Upper Canyon.

The first thing to be done in the workflow is to finish the track for the three-foot gauge logging railroad from the end of the track to the big mirror, 43 inches of finished track. The track is made from rough ties (sticks) for ties and Llagas Creek code 215 rail. The roadbed is thin plywood over extruded styrene foam insulation carved to look like sandstone using the technique described by Dave on the Thunder Mesa Studio YouTube channel.
