Great Western Steam Up - The Final Chapter, Driving Home - US50 and Ely Nevada

On our drive home from the Great Western Steam Up in Carson City Nevada, we took the "Loneliest Highway in America" US50. Mostly following the original transcontinental highway, the Lincoln Highway.

US50, for the most part, is a pathway through nothing. But there is Austin, Eureka (the southern end of the Eureka and Pallasides) and Ely.

We also visited some of the out-of-the-way places in the middle of Nevada, the odd home of "Cheif Rolling Thunder Mountain", and the Western Pacific GP7 on display in Elko Nevada, but mostly stopped at our "home away from home", the Nevada Northern Railway in Ely Nevada.
