And in the capital of the state Chandigarh and the adjacent districts of Panchkula and Mohali there was heavy hail. After a dry January, the unexpected weather continued into February. When hail appeared in some parts of the tri-city in the morning. The hail reached 3 cm in diameter. The flow of water along the roads was accompanied by heavy hail. The hail was formed due to low temperatures and the impact of an active western disturbance. Chandigarh recorded a low temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius. The city was under an orange warning for thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 50 km/h. Orange is the second highest of the four-color warning system used by the IMD. Its asks people to be prepared. Heavy rain accompanied by hail took passengers by surprise at Sukhna Lake. Some areas were flooded.And hills of hailstones formed on the sidewalks and roads.

After cloudy weather overnight, the minimum temperature increased. Which led to the formation of hail rain. Local residents were hiding in shelters. Some areas were without electricity. Traffic jams formed on the roads. The hail caused distress for the local population. Some old roofs were broken by hailstones.

Pathankot, Bathinda, Gurdaspur and Faridkot recorded minimum temperatures. However, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain during the next 24 hours. It also received snowfall in the mid and high hills of Himachal Pradesh. However, in some parts of Punjab the bad weather was even accompanied by lightning and thunder. More than a hundred agricultural lands were damaged due to the hailstorm. The harvest was damaged by hail, which caused material losses for local farmers. Fortunately, no emergency incidents were reported.
