The capital Montevideo was hit by severe flooding. Most of the city was flooded. The bad weather was caused by heavy rains. Strong gusts of wind were recorded in some areas. On social networks, locals joke that this is the emergence of a new Venice. Parked cars drifted like Venetian boats.

Entire fleets of cars found themselves stranded in water in the parking lots. Only buses could cope with the water level. Pedestrians struggled to move in knee-deep water. Due to flooded streets, most roads were impassable. Residents had difficulty making their way to their destinations. Most of southern Uruguay was under an orange alert level.

More than a thousand cars were forced to wait for the water to recede. Owners of shops located on the first floors of the city suffered from the flood. Also, the basements were almost completely flooded. Local communications were damaged. The flooding forced residents to postpone traveling around the city. In the lowlands, the water level reached up to a meter deep. The heavy rain continued for about the whole day.

Also, according to forecasts, the next day it may affect the northern parts of the country. Authorities are warning residents to be careful due to the possibility of further flooding. Many streets were under water, stopping traffic. Parts of the city were flooded. Gardens, roads, sidewalks found themselves in the water element. The situation was aggravated by heavy rains. Dozens of cars were broken down. No injuries were reported.
