Part 2 Chapter 4 Summary

Alright! Chapter 4 of Part 2. Here's the notes:
Chapter 4
Winston decides to rent the room above Mr. Charringston’s shop so he and Julia can more easily have an affair. However, he knows this means death for the both of them. Mr. Charrington didn’t mind, he needed the money and said that privacy is a very valuable thing
He starts waiting for Julia, as a woman sings outside the window. Julia and he planned to meet in the countryside, but she had to cancel because it was her time of month, so he talked to her about renting the room and she agreed. Julia has become more of a need for him, rather than just a rebellious act. But by doing this, he knows they both are dead.
Julia shows up with a bag hidden under her tools. She brought in real sugar, real white bread, and most importantly, real coffee. Apparently, everyone in the inner party has these things, and sometimes their servants steal. She also brought makeup, stating that in this room she won’t be a comrade of the party, but a woman.
Winston thinks she looks pretty with the makeup and perfume. All of a sudden a rat appears and Julia scares it, but Winston goes pitch white and freaks out. He is deathly scared of rats since he was a child.
After he calms down, they look at things around the room. The coral paperweight is like a memory from a past world, the picture of the church makes Julia remember a rhyme her grandpa told her before he was purged when she was 8. Their moment was frozen like the coral in the glass.
