The Monkees - A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You (Take 1)

Written by Neil Diamond, This is Take 1 of Davy's vocal for what would become The Monkees 3rd single. From the "Headquarters Super Deluxe Edition" Box set. No a bad vocal for his first take!

The story of how this recording came to be is, to say the least, extensive! Originally, Micky was to do the vocal! As fate would have it, Davy got the lead vocal as he was "Donnie Kirshner's Favorite Monkee", as the unsanctioned promo single said on it's label! While Donnie had his favorite Monkee in the RCA New York studio, he pretty much made him sing a total of 5 songs! Most had to be slowed to make the key lower to fit Davy's range.
After the sessions, Davy went on vacation to the Bahamas and Micky, Mike & Peter went to London and spent time with The Beatles.
