USCIS Expands Premium Processing
On March 30, 2022, the US Department of Homeland Security has published a new rule that
expands premium processing for certain immigration requests.
The rule will become effective on May 31, 2022, and the changes will be implemented
around September 30, 2022, for certain benefits, while for others, the implementation
will take place between now and September 30, 2025.
Premium processing allows individuals applying for immigration benefits
with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to pay an additional fee
for their application to be processed in an expedited manner.
1/ Greencard applications for multinational managers and executives, the EB1C green card:
- the premium processing fee will be 2500 USD
- the implementation will take place around September 30, 2022
- the processing time will be 45 days
2/ Applications for a green card for individuals who hold an advanced degree or have an
exceptional ability, the EB2 National Interest Waiver Green Card:
- premium processing will be available around September 30, 2022
- additional 2500 USD
- processing time will be 45 days
3/ Applications to change status or extend status filed with the US Citizenship and Immigration
Services in the F1 Student Category, J1 Exchange Visitor Category, or M1 Vocational Student Category:
- premium processing will be available around September 30, 2022
- processing fee of 1750 USD
- processing time will be 30 days
4/ For all other applications to change status or extend status filed with the US Citizenship and Immigration
Services in other categories such as E, L, O visas for dependent spouse or child:
- premium processing will be available by September 30, 2025
- processing fee of 1750 USD
- processing time will be 30 days
