How To: Lat Pulldowns (FIX THESE BIG MISTAKES!)

Steps to A Proper Lat Pulldown:

1. Back up on the seat so the cable is directly above you.

2. Lead with your shoulders (retract your scapula before bending your elbows).

3. As you bring the bar to your chest, adduct (pull in) your elbows to your side so you can get the squeeze on your lats.

4. Perform Full Range of Motion, drive the bar into the top of your chest for the full peak contraction and make sure your elbows are squeezed in as much as possible.

5. Keep tension at the top of the motion upon returning (do not lock out your elbows at the top!) Flare your lat muscles so you get a deep stretch while keeping your elbows slightly bent to maintain tension at the top of the rep.
