Onboard the R/C model 1,000 footer Belle River for her sea trials and how it was done

Way back in 1985 I constructed a radio controller (R/C) model of the 1,000 footer Belle River. (In 1990 the actual lakeboat has been renamed WALTER J. McCARTHY Jr.) Of course no sooner was my model finished than I had to go back to college in Florida, so the model went up on my shelf in Michigan. Over the years it became a shelf-queen that I tinkered with, occasionally setting her in the tub to see if one engine and propeller was good enough and so on. She went through four major surgeries where I had to remove her aft deck and re-work her motors. Eventually she ended up with two motors- just like the real vessel. Looking at her now you cannot even tell she had been operated on that many times- not a scar shows. Yet, in 37 years, she never actually had sea trials. So it was that while doing some tinkering with her hatches and her electrical fitting yesterday (January 5th, 2023) I bumped her throttle lever and her engines just roared to life- as if to say, "sail me!" Looking outside I saw that the weather was unseasonably warm and the water of Chesapeake Bay were as flat as glass. Thus, it was time for her long overdue sea trials. And I also decided tp place my cam aboard so you folks could ride along as well. Unfortunately, it was low tide and some sub-surface rocks blocked going out onto the open waters of the bay. Additionally, experience told me that open water on sea trials is not a good idea... you never know what may break.
