Submarine Hunter: How the Million $ Fire Scout Drone Has the Navy Covered

The US Navy is expanding the Fire Scout drones' operational range to encompass helicopters and vertical take-off and landing in an effort to increase their efficacy in significant maritime battle. In addition to expanding the functionality of Fire Scouts with ISR and video surveillance, the Navy is developing drones to search for submarines and networks beyond the horizon. Drones will hunt for and destroy enemy submarines, ships, and mines using a variety of cutting-edge laser and radar technologies. When they surface for a short time, there is a narrow window of opportunity to strike and destroy the ship before the enemy submarines promptly dive. If the Fire Scout drone is in a position to use its long-range, high-fidelity sensors, it may quickly inform the ship's captain to launch an assault and kill the submarine. The "sensor-to-gunner" timescale may be significantly shortened by high-speed, long-range ISRs, which can also help the Navy outperform its adversaries.
