M2 Browning: the World War I Machine Gun Still in Service Today
The M2 heavy machine gun, created by John Browning, is one of the most significant and oldest weapons in the US military's inventory. For 97 years, it has been used to equip infantrymen, armored crew members, sailors, bomber crews, and fighter pilots. Since World War I, the M2 has operated in every major conflict, and it appears that it will continue to do so for at least 25 years.
