061023 CANDLE BELIEVED TO HAVE STARTED HOUSE FIRE DURING POWER OUTAGE

At 11:30 pm East Montgomery County Fire Department, along with Porter, Caney Creek, Plum Grove, North Montgomery County, and Needham Fire Departments were dispatched to a house fire in the 17100 block of Mustang Lane in the Northcrest Subdivision. The first reports were a bedroom on fire on the second floor. Units arrived on the scene to find fire coming out the second-floor window. The fire was contained to the attic and second floor. The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation. It is believed a candle was the cause of the blaze as the power was out in the area. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal will investigate.
