JANUARY 9,, 2013 BUCK UNDERGOES SURGERY ON HIS EYES

"Buck", as he has been known since last weekend when he was found near Grangerland in a trash bag, tied to a fence post, and shot with buckshot and left for dead.

Just after 2 a,m a neighbor of Tami Augustyn's was leaving for work and saw a trash bag on the fence. Thinking it was trash someone had dumped out he didn't think anything of it.

Just after noon another neighbor was driving down Bulldog Lane and saw the same bag. The only difference was that it appeared to be moving. He stopped and when he opened it discovered a male dog approximately 60-pounds. He immediately notified Tammi, knowing she was an animal lover.

When Tammi arrived the dog was barely moving or breathing and had been shot with what appeared to be buckshot. Tammi took the dog to the Animal Emergency Clinic of Conroe on West Dallas. When he arrived there his body temperature was extremely low, he was in severe pain and had buckshot in his mouth, body, eyes and collar.

Buck spent Saturday night being monitored at the clinic.

Sunday evening Tammi took "Buck" as she named him for buckshot home with her with instructions to medicate him every 2 hours. They also suggested that she take him to North Houston Veterinary Specialists.

Tuesday, "Buck" was taken to the clinic and after examining him Dr. Rainbow who specializes in damage to the eyes. After evaluating "Buck" he determined surgery would be required to remove some of the damage from the eye and repair some of the damage. He said "Buck" can see but it was unknown to what extent as he is keeping his eyes closed due to the pain. Dr. Rainbow said the pain that "Buck" is experiencing would put a human in a fetal position if it was a human eye.

Many donations have come in for "Buck to cover the treatment bills. Just the eye surgery is estimated by Doctor Rainbow to be between $3000 and $5000 dollars.

Tami stated the money that has come in so far will cover the expenses as they are now. She has decided that any funds over and above the amount needed with be put in a trust for "Buck" and possibly start a Foundation to educate people on animal care.

She also stated that many people have expressed interest in adopting "Buck". As for now "Buck" will remain with Tami. "I wish everyone who expressed interest in adopting "Buck" apparently have space for an animal and I wish they would go to their local shelter and adopt one of the dogs", Tammi Said, "They can name it "Buck Junior".

Former Constable Tim Hollifield, who is now the Animal Cruelty Officer for Montgomery County is actively investigating the case. The bag "Buck" was found in is currently being fingerprinted for any matches,

In addition anyone with information on who did this to "Buck" can contact Crime Stoppers Of Montgomery County, or Montgomery County Animal Control.

WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS BUCKS CONDITION IMPROVES.
