SPLIT JERK | LAURIE CHRISTINE KING

In a Split Jerk, we take the barbell from shoulder to overhead with a slightly wider grip. As the name implies, we end up catching the bar with one leg in front of us and one leg behind us. The front knee should land in a ~90 degree angle, while the back leg will be slightly bent with weight in the back toes and heel off the floor. Make sure rather than splitting forward and back like a pair of scissors, that your legs are slightly staggered.

With the bar still locked overhead, you'll then bring walk feet together in the middle. We always want to step to the middle with our back foot FIRST, then front foot (or you might lose balance and drop the bar).
