Cortisone injections are popular for knee osteoarthritis when patients are searching for relief. It may not be the best approach though in certain situations. If you have already received a cortisone injection, fear not! There is still hope. If you are on the fence about getting a corticosteroid shot for arthritis pain relief, take a look at this video first.

There was a recent study that came out in 2020 that looked at the effectiveness of physical therapy versus corticosteroid injections for up to one year after. Physical therapy came out on top when it comes to pain relief and physical functioning. So what is the best decision for you? Well, it depends. One thing to think about though is if you have not tried physical therapy or an active approach, it may be worth it to try that first! Unless your pain is so severe you need relief if order to try exercise and other methods.
