PRESENT PARTICIPLE - is one of the VERBALS (INFINITIVES, GERUNDS, PARTICIPLES)- the PRESENT PARTICIPLE is the verb form ending in ING; it may be used as 1) part of the predicate verb if an auxiliary is present, 2) an adjective, 3) a noun. The Present Participle usually modifies the performer of its action the Past Participle usually modifies the receiver of its action. Running on the couch board, I fell and broke my big toe. Present Participles - the ING form of the verb-running, dancing, skipping, and other ing verbs can be used as a NOUN called. a GERUND (Running is my favorite exercise.) or an ADJECTIVE (I love my dancing lessons.)
