You're deciding whether to bring a lawsuit against a careless doctor.
You're wondering what will happen if you go ahead and sue a doctor you once cared deeply for.
You're trying to find information about the litigation process, especially about something called a deposition.

You begin to learn that in a civil lawsuit where you have sued your doctor for malpractice, at some point during your case you will be questioned by the doctor's attorney. This question and answer session is known as a deposition. Lawyers in New York also call this an examination before trial. In pre-Covid times, it would typically take place in your attorney's conference room. During Covid, it typically takes place on a Zoom video call.

Did you know that the answers you provide carry the same exact weight as if you're testifying in court, in front of a Judge and a jury? It's true!

Before you're going to be questioned by the opposing lawyer(s), your attorney will prepare you for what to expect. This video explores two important points that will help you get through your pretrial deposition.
