DNA Tech Catches Cold Case Killer in Oregon

For over three decades, a killer haunted the streets of Eugene, Oregon without detection. In the summer of 1986, two elderly women were murdered in their homes just weeks apart, followed by the slaying of another elderly woman nearly two years later. Though clearly linked, the trails went cold without leads for the perpetrator. Generations passed as the crimes faded into distant memory. But then, in 2018, a breakthrough was made - advances in genetic genealogy allowed detectives to identify the long-elusive suspect through DNA left at the crime scenes. After 32 years, the killer was named as John Bolsinger, having evaded capture through the years but unable to outrun science. At last, the killer's secrets were unearthed, justice finding the victims though late. Modern forensic tools triumphed to shine light where only darkness and doubt endured for so long.
