Closure from Cues in Cold Cases: Thanks to Witness Interview a Decade After

The sleepy Colorado town of El Paso County thought they knew peace, until a night in October 2012 when 19-year-old Cara Nichols vanished without a trace. For days then years, her family and community were left grasping for answers in the crushing absence of their bright young woman. As the trail grew stone cold, it seemed her fate may never see light.

But the tireless work of local law enforcement kept hope alive. Even a full decade later, they kept hunting for the light to shine through. Then suddenly in late 2022, a breakthrough came care of a surprising witness account. Piecing together new clues, investigators made discoveries that at last illuminated the tragic end that had stalked this town in shadows for ten years. Finally, justice emerged to provide the closure so many needed.
