Los Deliveristas Unidos: How Food Delivery Workers Are Organizing For Better Conditions | #BHeard

For companies like DoorDash and UberEats, it was a good year, as demand for food delivery skyrocketed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as app profits have surged, the workers themselves haven't benefited from the windfall. In New York City, these workers suffer from a litany of issues, including inconsistent pay, lack of access to bathrooms and shelter from the elements, and rising rates of e-bike thefts and assaults.

In response, workers have banded together to form "Los Deliveristas Unidos" and use their collective strength to demand accountability and protections from the apps, the city, and their customers alike.
