Almost Home: Housing Insecurity in NYC | #BHeard Docs TRAILER
Following up on the Emmy-winning documentary series, Sidewalk Civics, and our Spring, ‘22 series, The Damage Done: Gun Violence in Brooklyn, BRIC TV’s #BHeard Docs unit is producing a new five-part series on one of the most complex and hard to solve problems facing New York City: housing insecurity. Each of the five parts of Almost Home will explore this issue from a distinct angle, but the series’ overarching framework will take viewers from narrow to broad, from the impact on one person to the systemic inequalities driving the lack of affordable housing and in too many cases, homelessness.
With an eye toward building the BRIC brand through developing media partnerships, we are collaborating with the highly respected non-profit online newsroom, The City, which covers a broad spectrum of housing-related issues. Our team and theirs are working to identify common ground, and we believe their journalistic credentials and contacts will make the documentaries that much richer and more compelling (two of their reporters have already done on-camera interviews). Along with reporting, research, and referrals, we hope The City will produce accompanying articles that will add depth and context to the issues explored in this series.
And, working together, we hope we might have greater success in finding funding and building audience engagement for the series.
New episodes will drop every Wednesday beginning May 3.
