Not Just My Gun is Black: 2A Life in America | #BHeard Docs: The Damage Done
The sharp increase in gun violence hasn’t slowed the rise in gun ownership; in fact, it’s correlated with a historic surge in gun buying that’s spanned race and gender divides. This documentary looks at how and why some members of the Downstate New York Diasporans Firearm Club, are choosing to protect themselves.
Co-founders Wayne and Donavan lead a class in gun safety at a monthly club roundup. Stephanie, who says she is not a “gun enthusiast,” talks about her belief in the Second Amendment and her path to getting training and a gun permit. Foster, a social worker and licensed instructor, talks about her passion to combine both vocations in developing a curriculum around gun safety for youth.
