Girls Just Want to Have Fun (Second Acoustic Guitar) - Live Day & Age Tour

This is how Mark Stoermer played the second acoustic guitar part during the performance of this song at Union Chapel, London, on 08/11/08, during the Day & Age tour.

The guitar is tuned to Eb.

Mark’s playing is more strict and regimented than Dave’s and he doesn’t make any mistakes, but his guitar is a little lower in the mix.

All of the playing is around the open position chords. When there are some quick changes on the G and F chords, Mark just plays the two bass strings.

During the verses, all of the strumming is down strokes, with some quick 16th note down up down strums between some of the changes.

During the choruses, Mark used a ‘galloping’ up and down strumming pattern.

Guitar-wise, Mark used a Gibson J45 Standard - probably just borrowing one of Dave’s.

I’m using a 2006 Gibson J45 Standard.
