Tidal Wave (Acoustic Guitar) - The Killers - Live Day & Age Tour

This is how Dave Keuning played the song live during the Day & Age tour of 2008-2009.

The guitar is in standard tuning.

I’m using the same finger positions as Dave from studying videos on YouTube.

Tidal Wave was only performed once by The Killers on 16/01/09, at the Fox Theatre, Boulder, Colorado.

There was a problem with the PA system during part of the set and Brandon sang the song without amplification with just Dave accompanying him on acoustic guitar.

It’s definitely one of The Killers’ prettier songs, the studio version was an iTunes bonus track on Day & Age.

Of all the Killers songs that I’ve covered so far on bass and guitar, this is the only one where I’ve had to write down the chord changes as an aid to learning. It’s got well over 100 changes during song, which is probably the most of any Killers song.

Dave uses a consistent strumming pattern throughout the whole song, other than just during one chord change from G5 to G/F#.

Guitar-wise, Dave used a Sunburst Gibson J45 from the 2007-2009 period with a feedback buster in the soundhole.

I’m using a lightly amplified 2006 Sunburst Gibson J45, also with a feedback buster.
