Wellness Tea
I just wanted to share a recipe for a herbal tea blend that I make and take as needed for asthma related issues and seasonal allergies. The herbs help with the immune system and support respiratory problems. While the tea is bitter (from the elecampane), I think the other herbs balance it out and it's still palatable :) It is medicine after all !
Disclaimer: I am not a registered herbalist. I just make remedies for myself from my homegrown herbs or I purchase organic herbs. I have been doing this for over twenty years without a problem.
This is my own recipe and I often make it triple strength if I am very unwell eg. if I have the flu. When it's cold I pour it into a clean jar, cover, refrigerate and drink as required. I don't re-heat, as I want to preserve the qualities in the tea.
WELLNESS TEA
1 Dessertspoon - dried Lungwort
1 Dessertspoon - dried Mullein
1 Tablespoon - dried Elderberries
(it's important they are dried!!)
1 dessertspoon dried Elecampane
or 1 teaspoon chopped fresh root
*Store the above mixture in a jar)
When making the tea: Use 1.5 teaspoons of Mullein and Lungwort, 2 teaspoons dried Elderberries and 1 teaspoon of dried Elecampane.
This is enough for about 3 cups.
So just fill a tea pot with boiling water that will hold about 3 cups and add the dried herbs. Let them steep until the tea pot is cold. After about 30 minutes I will pour myself a cup. You can insulate the teapot with a towel. It will be quite strong, so it could be diluted if required. I store the cold tea in a jar in the fridge.
