Maine Part I

I never thought I'd be walking tipsy through Portland, Maine, but here we are. I loved walking along Portland's rocky coast, after which, I moved inland to Martin Stream Campground to recharge. Somehow I found myself staying at an alpaca farm--boy are they cute! Womp. Womp. Then my van overheated again and I ended up at a mechanic. Eventually, I made it to a ice cream shop where I was able to relax and spend an extra night catching my breath.

From Portland's coast to alpaca farms, Maine has a lot to offer. My first week was exciting, but exhausting. I use Harvest Host to find some beautiful places to spend the night. Harvest Host provides a variety of options, like a fermentory in Portland, an ice cream shop in Corinth, or an alpaca farm in Sydney, Maine, all three which I stayed at during this week.

MY VAN: 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500 High-Top, converted from a handicap passenger van

MY DISCLAIMER: Most of the labor I did on my van was my first time doing those things, so I am very much not an expert. There are countless ways to convert a van into a livable home, this is just my way. This is a DIY budget van build, so I cut some corners you may not want to cut. Always use proper safety precautions and thorough research.

MY STORY: After backpacking in Europe and Asia for 14 months, I've decided to explore the USA in a converted campervan. In October of 2019, I bought my Dodge Ram 3500 and began converting it into my future home. I'm now living in it full-time with my cat, Cosmo, while traveling the USA and experiencing #vanlife. My plan is to hit the rest of the lower 48 states by the end of 2021.
