Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Wore a Stunning Emerald Tiara to a State Banquet in Slovakia

At a state dinner in Slovakia Tuesday night with her husband, King Willem-Alexander, the queen chose to complement her peacock blue lace gown, complete with a silver Lady Dior Croisiere Perforated Clutch and a pair of metallic Aquazzura platform shoes with a sparkling green tiara. The tiara is part of a Dutch emerald parure and is paired with earrings from the same set that Maxima wore to the gala. She also wore an emerald choker, though it didn't appear to be the necklace that is part of the parure, which also includes a brooch and cabochon pendant. According to The Court Jeweler, the set was made by Schürmann in 1899 by order of Queen Emma using some of the royal family's emeralds. It also has several settings, including one with pearls and another entirely set with diamonds. Her stunning look last night is a riff on a very similar style the queen wore to a state banquet in Ireland in 2019. That time, she wore what appears to be a green version of the same dress by designer Ian Tamignau to pair it with a set of jewels for a dinner with Irish President Michael Higgins and his wife Sabrina Higgins.
