The Most Famous Paintings of the Hermitage

A decree of Empress Catherine II founded the Imperial Art Collection in 1764. Currently, Hermitage includes 5 buildings, 350 halls with a total area of over 235,000 square meters (~91 thousand square miles), which are connected by corridors of a total length of around 20 kilometers (12.4 miles). The Hermitage holds more than 60 thousand paintings, which take about 40 days to view.

In this great museum, there are the works of famous artists (Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Degas, Matisse....), who left a significant mark on world culture, which without exaggeration can be said to have influenced and continues to influence the development of our civilization. We have tried to find their immortal creations in the endless labyrinth of Hermitage halls.
