Vladimir Nabokov's Home (Author of Lolita)
Vladimir was a Russian-American novelist. Nabokov's initial nine novels were written in Russian, but he became globally renowned for his mastery of English prose. In addition, he contributed greatly to the study of butterflies and had a strong passion for chess puzzles.
The novel Lolita is often cited as Nabokov's most important, or at least his most widely known. It is filled with intricate wordplay and descriptive detail that are characteristic of all of his work.
In 1951, his memoir, Speak, Memory, was ranked eighth on the publisher's list of the 20th century's greatest nonfiction. Lolita ranked fourth in the Modern Library 100 Best Novels list; Pale Fire (1962) was ranked 53rd on the same list; and his memoir. He was also a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction seven times.
