Embryonic Journey
Here’s a 12-string version of “Embryonic Journey”, written by Jorma Kaukonen (of “Jefferson Airplane”) for a guitar workshop in 1962. At that time, it was unusual to include instrumental acoustic fingerstyle guitar music on “Rock” albums, but the band thought it deserved a place on their album, and included it in their 1966 (now classic) release “Surrealistic Pillow”. It’s become something of a fingerstyle classic since then, and has been covered by fingerstylists all over the world. Leo Kottke recorded his version (much different than the original) on his 1979 album “Balance”.
