Court clamps down — jet skis banned from Tobago marine parks — child’s death triggers emergency injunction — operators blocked, enforcement begins.

Jet ski operations have been forcibly halted in key marine areas in Tobago after the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) secured an emergency court injunction in response to the recent death of a child.

The High Court in Tobago granted the order, which immediately bans the use, rental, launching, and retrieval of personal watercraft within the Buccoo Reef Marine Park and the Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

The injunction goes further, restraining both identified individuals and “persons unknown” from offering or promoting jet ski services in these protected zones, as authorities move to regain control of marine safety.

The legal action follows the death of 7-year-old Angelica Saydee Jogie on April 8, after a jet ski entered a restricted bathing area at Pigeon Point and collided with her and her family.

On Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, Jogie should have been celebrating her 8th birthday. Instead, her family is marking the day in grief, just days after laying the seven-year-old to rest.— Story by I.A.N News
