Father gunned down at home, wife wounded in early morning Valencia attack.

A quiet Valencia community was shaken by gun violence when a 49-year-old father was killed and his wife injured after gunmen opened fire on their home.

The victim, Shaun Charles, was fatally shot inside his residence along Emon Lane around 3:30am. His wife, 40-year-old Clarissa James, was also struck during the attack and is currently hospitalised in stable condition.

According to investigators, the couple and their two children were asleep when a series of loud explosions rang out. The victims were later found suffering from gunshot wounds to their backs. The children were unharmed.

Responding officers recovered multiple 9mm shell casings at the scene and seized several items as part of the ongoing investigation.

Homicide officers from the Arouca bureau, region two, are continuing inquiries into the incident.— Story by I.A.N News
