Gunshot Rang Out During Home Invasion as Masked Bandits Assault Couple in South Oropouche.

Two residents of Lezama Trace, St. John Road, South Oropouche, were assaulted during a violent home invasion on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026.

Police said around 7:00 a.m., a 48-year-old woman was heading to an outdoor bathroom at the rear of her home when she was confronted by two masked men. One of the suspects struck her on the head with a blunt object before both men entered the house through a rear door.

Inside, the intruders approached a 39-year-old male occupant. One suspect, armed with a firearm, announced a robbery and assaulted him. During the confrontation, the victim managed to push the firearm away, after which a loud explosion was heard.

The attackers stole a gold chain valued at $3,000 and a gold wedding ring valued at $4,500 before fleeing the premises on foot through the rear door.
