Ettrema Gorge in Morton National Park north east of Nerriga, NSW. Ettrema Creek is a small stream which we cross at the start of the hike quickly cuts deep into layers of sedimentary rocks to form Ettrema Gorge more than 300 mts deep with massive vertical unbroken cliffs more than 100 mts high. We are walking along a scrubby sanstone plateau known as Ettrema Tops & as well as crossing Ettrema Creek we cross an unnamed creek that we follow downstream to view waterfalls large concave wave sandstone walls & deep crystal clear pools, then on the Ettrema Tops to a point where the Ettrema Gorge opens up downstream from the confluence of Bullfrog Creek & Ettrema Creek for magnificent views then follow an unnamed creek upstream to find more hidden gems, a spot that we named reflection pool, more waterfalls & deep crystal pools to complete this 17 km off track circuit.
