Hugh Gorge is one of the most remarkable gorges on the Larapinta Trail & one of it's main highlights, climbing to Rocky Saddle with orange & red cliffs on both sides then descend to a side creek leads to the top of Hugh Gorge. Many waterholes feature along this 3.4 km length of untracked gorge. Some of the pools fills it's base & require either a deep wade, swim or scramble on rock faces to bypass them. The intense light magnifies the orange & red hues off these ancient rock walls & the mirror reflection of the still waters of the waterholes makes Hugh Gorge a unique place an amazing oasis in this ancient land, a photographer's dream.
