Hot & Cold Running Water In Off Grid Tiny Home

I swapped out the hot water heater in my off grid tiny house on wheels and now I have hot and cold running water.

The other day I worked on the plumbing system in my tiny home. It has frozen when I was in Michigan and I never restored it.

I mounted the water pump and accumulator on the wall of the tiny house, up higher off the ground so that the water will not freeze as easily next winter.

I had a new propane on demand water heater that I had purchased and simply swapped it out with the old one which was not working. Some of you may remember that I was going to use a camp water heater on my off grid tiny home but it was leaking.

Today I replaced it with a new one.

Next I went inside the tiny house and tested all the lines for leaks. So far, so good. There were no leaks inside my tiny home.

The next thing was to connect a 20 pound propane tank and put the batteries into the water heater.

This is a really cool device because it sits there idle until it senses water flowing through it. Then it turns on the gas flow and ignites the gas, heating the water. As soon as the water flow stops, the device shuts off the gas flow.

It is literally a hot water on demand system. Perfect for an off grid tiny house on wheels.

This particular hot water heater has great reviews from off grid cabins and homes. That is the reason I chose this one.

The next thing was to hook up my tiny house shower. I have been using a portable 12 volt camp shower all this time. I put hot water into a bucket and then plugged in the water pump and had a hot shower as needed.

But today I installed the water lines to the shower and installed the shower head. I had to put a piece of 2x6 in the bathroom cabinet as a frame to hold the shower head in place but it works nicely now.

I enjoyed the first ever hot shower in my tiny house using the plumbing which I installed. This was a great feeling and a huge moment in the tiny house on wheels.
