Repairing VW Bus Bumpers and Rims!

In this second episode of Joe Average Special Features I give a demonstration on the VW Bus Bumpers and Rims restoring them to a minimum standard rust repair. This video has no words just a visual with some catchy music.

The smaller front bumper is original to our Bus and the big rusty one is the rear off the parts bus. I used a 4” wire wheel to get rid of the rust. My camera was unfortunately off when I did a small “bondo” repair on the rear bumper to get rid of a couple small holes, however you can see the patch while I’m bringing the tires into the garage.

I cleaned the rims when I bought the bus with some elbow grease and sandpaper that’s why you see them already primed.

After cleaning the bumpers and rims with Lacquer Thinner they’re primed with “rust primer” and painted with “recreation white rust paint”.

The parts are all dry and looking for to putting them on the bus in an upcoming episode!
