Aixro XR50 Rotary Motor Rebuild
Monday May 16th, 2021
I’ve thankfully finally assembled my Aixro XR50 motor and I’m great full to be able to share this video with you. Even if a rotary motor isn’t your thing I’m positive you’ll enjoy the viewing pleasure. Who doesn’t enjoy a good old nut and bolt assembly :)
In this video I get to show you my step by step assembly of the refurbished motor. The following steps were taken to complete the build:
- machined and lapped both side plates
- machined and rebalanced eccentric shaft
- replaced centre needle bearing
- replaced rotor
- replaced side plate bearings and seals
- replaced rotor side seals and apex seals
Putting the motor together seems like a quick task but acquiring all the parts and waiting on machine shops took me the better part of 8mths to have all my components ready. I live in Canada and all parts were shipped overseas from Germany. There’s a legendary gentleman named “Poul” at Woelfle Engineering that was the most helpful individual I may have ever met over the phone.
At the end of the day it feels incredible to finally have this beast together and I’m looking forward to sharing the startup and test run video!
Stay tuned my friends :)
