Porsche 914 Roof Pillar and Door Jam Repair
April 25th, 2021
Here’s the longest 914 video to date. With some ambition I was able to complete the entire passenger side rebuild of the 914.
I started off with rebuild the hardware for the door jam. The easy part is placing the door striker screw holes and the more challenging part is fitting the 90 degree cabin air fitting. I used my trusty bandsaw to cut the fitting and a permanent marked to mark where to weld in place. After the hardware was installed it was easy fitting the door jam from the previous screw holes I installed in the last 914 video.
With the door jam in place it’s off to the races installing the roof pillar. Thankfully to Restoration Designs fantastic fit it was a quick install with very minimal body hammer wielding. A few tack welds and it’s in place!
With the most challenging piece saved for last I use my auto body dolly and body hammer to cut and fit the entire rear quarter of the passenger side. I have a lot of welding to do in the video but with some editing you get to view the best parts cutting out all the dust :)
I hope you enjoy the video, please remember these are for viewing pleasure only.
Stay tuned I have many more videos to come on this project with some neat tricks along the way. Don’t forget to subscribe if you want the updates! Cheers!
